• January-November - Nandigram violence - Clashes between opposition parties, the governing Communist Party of India (Marxist) and police in Nandigram, West Bengal. On March 14, 14 villagers were killed in police firing.
• August - India and US released the text of 123 agreement US press release

This has been very controversial in the Indian political environment with both Left and NDA opposing the UPA over the issue.

• November 11 - Miss India-Earth Pooja Chitgopekar won in Miss Earth 2007 beauty pageant as Miss Earth-Air (1st-runner up) held in Manila, Philippines.

• February 2 - Vijay Arora, 62, actor in television and Hindi films
• April 1 - Laurie Baker, 90, England-born architect known for his low-cost housing
• April 5 - Poornachandra Tejaswi, 69, Kannada writer and novelist, who also had other activities related to farming, study of wild life, photography and painting.
• May 27 - G. Srinivasan, 48, film producer for Tamil and Hindi films, brother of Mani Ratnam
• June 13 - Ramchandra Gandhi, 70, philosopher, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi
• July 8 - Chandra Sekhar, 80, eleventh Prime Minister of India
• October 10 - S. R. Bommai, 84, Chief Minister of Karnataka, 1988-1989
• December 21 - Teji Bachchan, 90, wife of Hindi poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and mother of Bollywood film superstar, Amitabh Bachchan
• December 25 - G. P. Sippy, 93, producer and director of Hindi films
