Serena Williams completes an incredible run at the Australian Open by crushing No.1 seeded Maria Sharapova 6-1, 6-2 in the final. It was Serena's 3rd Australian Open title and 8th Grand Slam overall. She also became the third-lowest ranked player in history to capture a Grand Slam title.

- 4 - PBR: At the end of a season in which he won a new record eight events, Justin McBride wins his second Professional Bull Riders World Title in three years at the PBR Finals in Las Vegas.
- - In the Master's Cup, Roger Federer lost to Fernando Gonzalez, making it the first time in 4 and 1/2 years that Federer lost back to back matches.
- 30 - Mixed martial arts: Sam Vasquez, a fighter out of Houston, Texas, becomes the first fighter to die from injuries sustained in a sanctioned MMA bout in the United States. He was knocked out in an October 20 bout in Houston and collapsed shortly thereafter; after undergoing two brain surgeries, he suffered a stroke that left him comatose until his death.

- March 13 - April 2: 2007 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament at various sites throughout the United States. The Final Four was held March 31 and April 2 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. Florida became the first team to repeat as champions since Duke in 1991 and 1992, and the first men's Division I team ever to repeat as champions with the identical starting lineup (Al Horford, Joakim Noah, Corey Brewer, Lee Humphrey, and Taurean Green). Brewer was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player.
