Ed Dueim (Arabic, also romanized as ad-Duwaym) is one of the largest cities along the White Nile in Sudan. It is historically famous as the location for the Bakht El Ruda teacher's training institute. Ed Dueim is one of the most important towns in Sudan and it played a unique major role in the promotion of education throughout Sudan. The pedagogical institute of Bakht El Ruda at El Dueim has been preparing educational cadres and pedagogues, many of whom have contributed enormously to the development of modern Sudan. Bakht EL Ruda had also helped significantly in preparing teachers on a two years course called AL Sanatain, students used to come to Bakht El Ruda from all regions of Sudan and other neighbouring countries.
