An anti-war film is a movie that is perceived as having an anti-war theme. Some satirize war while others criticize war overall or criticize a particular war. Mainly, an anti-war film's goal is to show the physical and psychological destruction warfare causes not just upon soldiers of opposing forces but innocent civilians caught in the crossfire or suffering from hardships as well.
